On June 2006, a terrorist group of several Palestinians crossed the border south of the Gaza Strip into Israel and attacked an Israeli tank that was within the sovereign territory of Israel. Gilad Schalit, one of the four soldiers who were in the tank, was wounded and abducted by the terrorists to the Gaza strip. Gilad’s abductors were members of the Fatah, Islamic Jihad and Hamas.

On the day of the Berlin Marathon, September the 20th, Gilad will be exactly 1183 days in Hamas captivity.

He is still alive, but there is no information as to his welfare, since Hamas is depriving him from his basic Human Rights, such as Red Cross visitations or medical treatment - against every international treaty regarding war prisoners.

Gilad's family has a right to know what happened to him.

Be one of the 1183 runners who will run the Marathon to support Human Rights and bring Gilad closer to his much anticipated freedom.

Please do not be mistaken, this bears no political, religious or national meaning - it is a private initiative to a run for Human Rights.

Be you Israeli, German, African or Syrian; be you Jewish, Muslim or Christian - as long as you understand that a human being's freedom is more important than any nationality or religion.

I will be wearing the runner number 1183. Run with me.

How can I show my support if I am not running?
